Dr. Johanna Niegel
Dr. Johanna Niegel has been specializing in foundation law, trust law, corporate law, family governance and philanthropy in the fiduciary business in Liechtenstein for 25 years, after working for international law firms, among others in New York, Budapest and Vienna.
Johanna Niegel is the editor of Trusts & Trustees ‘Private Foundations: A World Review’ and editor to the book ‘Private Foundations World Survey’, published by Oxford University Press. In addition, she regularly publishes in the areas of foundation and trust law as well as family governance and speaks at international conferences.
She is also a university lecturer in the certificate, diploma and master programmes at the University of Liechtenstein and a member of The International Academy of Estate and Trust Law (TIAETL).
Johanna took a doctorate in law at the University of Vienna Law School, Austria, and graduated with a master’s degree from Columbia University School of Law, New York, having obtained a Fulbright scholarship. She was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar for Superior Academic Achievement and holds the Parker School Recognition of Achievement with Honors in International and Foreign Law. More recently, Johanna has obtained an LL.M. in International Taxation at the University of Liechtenstein.
Johanna was awarded the STEP Founder’s Award in 2017.
